To all of our AYPT patients:

With a 14 day incubation period of COVID-19, we are proactively taking a stance against the place where all who have gotten COVID-19 have come from– outside West River, SD. So, effective going forward, anyone (patient or staff member) who has been out of West River, SD, within the past two weeks OR has been in close contact with someone who returned from out of state within the past two weeks will be rescheduled and begin PT intervention in two weeks, and anyone in each of these situations is encouraged to utilize a socially responsible 14 day self-quarantine, then proceed forth.

Because there is a 4 day window between infection and developing a fever, taking one’s temperature does not ensure the safety of our patients presently. Thus, the 14 day incubation period window of self-quarantine we recommend above and 14 day window of not being in our clinic we will be consistent with in order to minimize risk to all AYPT patients.

As always, anyone experiencing any cold or flu symptoms is to call their provider regarding appropriate COVID-19 screening and return to clinic after appropriate screening has been done and symptoms have resolved. Protecting patients against other colds and flu pathogens was and is still the same priority now as before this unique situation.

To maximize social distancing while still carrying on our service, we will have all employees who are able to do their roles from home, work from home until social distancing is no longer needed. To best serve our community, will continue to adapt our plan fluidly to account for and implement all scientifically merited safety measures.

Lastly, we encourage anyone reading this to use this situation as an opportunity to draw nearer to your Creator. Jesus covered us through this, knew it would happen to allow us to draw closer to Him if we chose, that He will give us rest and that this too shall pass in His time. He designed us with an immune system that is FAR craftier than any mutating pathogen. Not even close. God created us in His image, to regard evil as He does…he squishes evil bugs under foot. So does His immune system. Watch Him work.

Functional Movement Screening

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a research-based, field-ready seven-step assessment to prevent injuries and to maximize your physical performance.

Selective Functional Movement Assessment

Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a diagnostic assessment used to systematically, identify the cause of painful symptoms by breaking down dysfunctional movements and patterns to address the core problem, not just treat the symptoms of it.

Postural Restoration

Postural Restoration unlike traditional physical therapy treatments takes a more holistic approach, focusing on identifying common asymmetries within the body that can create neuromuscular patterns that negatively affect muscle function and structural alignment. The Postural Restoration treatment helps works to address the underlying postural patterns to address the root of the problem, and help to prevent it’s re-occurrence in the future.

Manual Therapy

Manual (Manipulative) Therapy is a traditional physical therapy technique used to treat musculoskeletal pain, immobility and disability, by the skilled passive movement of joints and soft tissues. This includes the mobilization of joints, mobilizing soft-tissues, or massaging specific areas by kneading those tough muscles – all to get you moving again.

Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery

Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR) is a research-based, community driven initiative, to create a lifelong, proactive rehabilitation in people’s fight against Parkinson’s disease, starting at diagnosis. PWR can help protect, repair and optimize brain function in individuals affected by Parkinson’s.

  • WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY ABOUT US

It is my privilege to recommend Laura Bonsness as a Physical Therapist and for care of any early rehabilitation needs. I had the opportunity to work with Laura while in Gillette, Wyoming where she took care of a number of my patients. She was dedicated to their outcomes and worked well with the patients and was able to motivate them and use her skills and background to their advantage. I found that I could rely on her and her judgment in treating them and I enjoyed working with Laura.

    Dr. Michael Darnell,

  • WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY ABOUT US

"I never offered my thanks for helping me recover with my back. God used your gifts in so many ways.  I pray your business is blessed and continues to prosper."

    Jeremy,
    Back Patient

  • WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY ABOUT US

"After my back surgery, I started physical therapy someplace else, assuming that the therapist knew what was best for me.  I was wrong.  Basically y sessions were spent on the machines with little or no hands-on  or individual attention.  Many times I left in more pain than I when I went in, and as soon as I got home, I’d have to have a pain pill.  I was so discouraged that I cancelled my last 2 appointments."
